CAD Engine Design
Radial Engine
A simple CAD model showing how the innards of a radial engine
work. This was created as a result of an ongoing fun project to build a
scale model radial engine.
Stokes Engine
The Stokes engine was an attempt to design and build an engine that
was not forced to have a specific pattern of volumetric expansion.
It features four pistons, a single combustion chamber and a cam to replace
the crankshaft. In collaboration with the concept developer, Creative CAD
built the first example entirely in-house and it ran successfully as a
two stroke on autogas and a four stroke on petrol. The design precludes
the need for a cooling system, and produces relatively cool, clean exhaust
emissions.
This example is now driven by compressed air to demonstrate the principle.
Percheron Engine
The Percheron engine was designed in collaboration with the Bldesigns.
It features opposing pistons and cranks driving a pair of beams.
The first example has been successfully run and the engine continues to
be developed.
